Public consultation on the future of Bargate Shopping Centre

Following the announcement of a new deal for the Bargate Shopping Centre, Bargate Property Ltd is consulting the local community on the site’s future. This first of the two stage consultation programme will be an opportunity for residents and shoppers to meet the team ask questions and find out more information at the Bargate Shopping Centre on 21 October 2015, 3pm-8pm.

James Burchell on behalf of Bargate Property Ltd, said:

“This first public consultation event marks a real step in our bid to see the site regenerated. We are now beginning to look at options for the site and are keen to speak to local people at this early stage in order to understand their views and opinions before we progress and bring forward development plans”.

City Council leader, Simon Letts, said:

“I’m so pleased that progress is already being made in respect of the site and more importantly, that all who live and work in the City will have the chance to comment on the draft plans that are being prepared. I’d urge anyone who’s interested to drop-in to next week’s session.”

Following this first event, Bargate Property Ltd will develop detailed proposals for the site, which will be the subject of a further public exhibition before the plans are finalised. A planning application is likely to be submitted to the City Council in the early part of next year.

A project website has been launched to coincide with the start of the consultation period and all information will also be made available at: www.bargatequarter.co.uk. For anyone that has any questions about the project or upcoming event, they can call the project’s community line on 0808 281 9531.
